Maxon; General Tojo's notes and doodles made during the interrogation to clarify translation; case file of General Tojo entitled Evidential Facts Adduced from his Interrogations; and an affidavit of Togo Shigenori made by Yale C. Maxon for the International Military Tribunal for the Far East. Also includes background information on the collection.

General Hideki Tojo was a General for the Imperial Japanese Army and the Japanese Prime Minister during much of World War II. After the war during the Tokyo War Trials, also known as the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, Tojo was interrogated by John W. Fihelly, translated by Yale C. Maxon, a translator for the United States Navy. Tojo was sentenced to death for war crimes and executed by hanging in 1948.
Togo Shigenori was Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs at the beginning and end of World War II. He was tried and found guilty during the Tokyo War Trials and sentenced to 20 years in prison. He died while serving his sentence in 1950.
